Quote of the Week 10/23

"the installations represent breuning's photographic technique of leaving the chaos of production within a frame - offering the audience a 'behind-the-scenes' perspective of the production."

'smoke bomb 2', 2011 by olaf breuning
I thought this installation was very interesting along with the artist's technique explained in the quote. After reading the artist's intent, you can see that it is successfully portrayed in this piece. It does make me feel curious of what is behind all the smoke but I love that the smoke is so colorful and bright.

  1. Very colorful and dramatic...It is interesting to think about the element of "time" in an installation.

This picture captures the moment. but once the smoke dissipates, and the dyes, unfurl, all is quiet and it is fleeting.... and disappears... What do you think of that?

    1. That's really interesting, I never thought of it like that. I also didn't consider the element of time until you mentioned it. I thought of it as like a playful mystery happening with the bright colors and smoke hiding the mystery of what is behind the frame. I can see now how it captures the moment of the explosion and then a peacefulness after the smoke dissipates.
